LIVE, WORK, ART
While sorting through the estate of her late parents, M. Joy Rose was mentored by Nancy Ludowise (Rose), about the idea of an off-grid hostel and cooperative arts-community available to host guests from a wide variety of backgrounds. This seemed like a relevant idea and Ms. Rose was boosted by her brother Darton’s cooperation as well as their mutual desire to honor their late brother David Rose’s memory. David was a California thespian, director, and loving father (1959-2016). Founded in 2017 near Salineville, Ohio, with an aim to provide a supportive and sustainable environment for those seeking a retreat in order to pursue their artistic endeavors, Kilravock Arts, an off-grid hostel and artist colony was born in the rural Eastern Ohio River Valley.
Boasting three cabins and one-yurt (coming in 2018) with a generous garden, goats, chickens, and room to roam, artists can participate in a variety of gardening ventures, live/work for free, and pursue their creative ventures. Participants my stay from two weeks to two months, from June-September.
