Zena Marpet and Joy Rose

I am Martha JOY Rose. Call me ‘JOY’. I am currently making art and serving as the Director of the Museum Of Motherhood online and acting as the President of the MOM Art Annex non-profit 501c3.

I have worn so many hats that I have lost count!

A few of those designer chapeaus have included my identity as a ‘motherist‘, time spent rocking with my band Housewives on Prozac whilst simultaneously holding the position of radio DJ and content creator, Media Mom blogger, and founder/producer of Mamapalooza.

I advocate for the visibility of m/others through education and curate exhibits about the art, science, and herstory of American women.

I am fortunate to have been recognized as an award winning producer, writer and activist, holding the key to the City of Seneca Falls, the Best of Girl Power Events (Westchester, NY), and receiving the NOW-NYC Susan B. Anthony award.

Since 2005, I’ve been organizing the annual academic and arts MoM Conference and I’ve also enjoyed the privilege of working as an adjunct professor at Manhattan College in NYC (2015-2020).

While I was home raising kids, I served as the publisher of Mamazina, formally known as Mom Writers Literary Magazine and founder of  The Mom Egg which is still running under the stunning direction of Marjorie Tesser.
